Well, that's Christmas over for another year and the New Year celebrations have yet to get underway. I hope that there won't be an overabundance of apologies to be made or, received on Jan. 1st. I know that everyone that reads this will participate in the New Years festivities in their own way while not losing sight of their "God-given" common sense. That while watching out for their own safety, they'll also keep an eye open for their neighbour who, for whatever reason lets the good time get away with them. Let's, please, all do what we can to make this a safe New Year.
On that note, I'd like to wish everyone a
"Happy, Healthy & Prosperous 2009"

Through The Eyes Of This Soul

Were you one of the generous ones that voted another raise for our overworked men & women in politics? If it wasn't you, apparently you're not alone. There is nobody that I know of that voted for it........or even had the option to "Yea" or "Nay" such an outrageous move. It seems that politics is the only secure occupation left. What the hell, could you go to work for someone and expect to receive a pension after just four years of service? (service??? That's another joke on us)
It doesn't matter how much we complain, the great political machine just rumbles on and on. If aliens visited our earth and transported all of mankind, with the exception of the politician, to another planet, how long would it be before we were missed? If they need more money, that's no problem, they can close a couple more hospitals or schools. They won't notice. We gave them another raise, they send their kids to private schools and if they need health care, no problem, they can afford to go private.
Last week my wife had to go by ambulance to the hospital........now that was an experience. She was recovering from a double abdominal surgery when things started to go south. Her surgery, which required the services of a specialist, was performed in London, about 2 1/2hrs. away. Well, our local hospital wasn't equipped to handle this particular emergency and the next closest hospital (Windsor) was closed to trauma because of a major traffic accident. Windsor would of been fine a couple of years ago but, like a lot of other towns and cities, hospitals have been closed down like there's ten more to take their place. That meant that Public General Hospital in Chatham was next in line. A couple of years ago Chatham had two great hospitals, you guessed it, not now. Anyway, back to the ambulance debacle. First of all, the home health care nurse, after speaking with the surgeon in London, was instructed to have my wife transported to a Windsor hospital because of the dire condition the patient was in. Also, Windsor had the facilities to deal with the problem. Our local ambulance dispatcher chose to argue the destination, wanting to transport her to our little Leamington hospital which is only six blocks from home. When my wife was finally on her way to Chatham, the ambulance attendants couldn't monitor her temperature because their monitoring device was broken. They couldn't even check her blood pressure because they only had a small child's B.P.cuff.
This is where the money comes from when the politicians decide that they can't possibly survive on their "poverty-level" wages.

Echoes Of This Soul

Merry meet & merry part, welcome! This will be an ongoing journey with myself and various other people along the way. People who's paths have joined with mine for what may be a short way or even an extended part of my meanderings.
Any and all are welcome to hop on for the ride at any point and, by the same token, jump off whereever & whenever your free will desires. If our paths should merge again at any time, so be it. You may call it fate, God's will, a fluke or maybe even my majikal hold on you. What you call it isn't important, the important thing is you're here and I'm blessed to have you.
I may add to this two or three times a day and at other times, I may not touch it for a couple of days or more. The point is, I'll write this the same as I hitch-hiked across and around this great country of ours back in the 60's. Some of you will remember when sticking out your thumb was a reasonably safe way to travel. What it boiled down to was, if I liked a place (all it takes is the chance meeting of one or two interesting people) I'd stay for a few days or weeks until I felt the urge to move on. The "travels" in this blog will adhere to the same strict schedule, that is to say, if we hit on an interesting "backwater topic" then we'll entertain the subject until another destination catches our attention.
I'll probably start out with a few words........did I say "few"? well, words about what I think, what I believe, what I find interesting and basically, what makes me tick. We'll delve into travels, people, spirituality, ufology, parapsychology, cryptozoology, witchcraft, wicca, hypnotism and on and on. I hope to see you there.
